Nisha Rani ( M.A, Ph.D) is a versatile singer and dancer. She holds a Doctorate degree in Music from the University of Kerala, India. She proved her excellence in the last three decades in Carnatic Music and South Indian Classical Dance Forms. She has been extensively trained in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam. She has more than a thousand stage performances to her credit and won several awards and accolades including a Junior Research Fellowship from Sangeet Natak Akademy, India.
Dr.Nisha’s journey in the world of music and dance commenced at the age of 5. She had her initial training in music under Guru Devaki, Guru Vamanan Namboothiri and later under the renowned musician and composer Guru Perumbavur G Ravindranath. Kalamandalam Usharani was her first teacher in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam and later she pursued her training under the eminent Guru Vinayachandran who is a direct disciple of the Kuchipudi legend Guru Vempati Chinnasathyam. She did her ‘arangettam’ in both music and dance at the age of 12 which brought out her natural talent. She used to participate in all music and dance competitions in school and won several State-level competitions. After her schooling, she wanted to seriously pursue music and dance and make it her profession. After completing her degree in Master of Arts, Music from the University of Kerala, she continued her research and secured her Doctorate degree in Carnatic Music on ‘Thillanas’ in 2008 under the guidance of Prof.Dr. K.Omanakutty.
In 2000, she started her new venture “Thillana School of Music and Dance. Her disciples have come out with flying colours in different competitions and cultural events which acclaimed her popularity as a teacher. Since 2008, she has been training more than 1000 students in New Delhi.
